Creator codes
Give creators a code players type at checkout. Track sales per code and work out what each creator earned.
Creator codes are checkout codes you use to attribute purchases back to creators. When a Tebex purchase comes in with that code, Analyse tracks the revenue and the creator's cut for you.
They're the easiest possible revenue-share deal. No custom tracking pixels, no shady spreadsheets, no arguments about attribution. The code is the source of truth.
Plan
You'll need your Tebex store connected (see Connect your store) for revenue to flow in.
When to use creator codes vs campaigns
You can use both. They solve different problems.
| Campaigns | Creator codes |
|---|---|
| Track where a player joined from | Track where a purchase was prompted from |
| First-touch attribution, permanent | Code is entered on each purchase |
| Great for sponsorships and ad buys | Great for long-term affiliate deals |
| Pay per player | Pay per sale |
Big servers usually give each creator both: a Campaign subdomain for joins, and a Code for checkout. That way you reward both the "bringing players" side and the "pushing purchases" side.
Creating a code
- 1
Open your Server then Creator codes
In the sidebar.
- 2
Click "New code"
Pick a short, memorable code (e.g.
PEWDS,SCOTT,DREAM10) and use that same code in your checkout flow. - 3
Choose the discount
A percentage off (0-100). Set it to 0 for a pure tracker code that doesn't give a discount.
- 4
Set the commission rate
This is the percentage of revenue the creator earns for sales that use the code. It's purely a reporting number (Analyse won't send money), but it makes your own finance math easy later.
- 5
Link Campaigns (optional)
You can tie a code to one or more Campaigns so the code's dashboard groups its sales under those Campaigns for easier internal reporting. This link is used inside your own dashboard, not on the public Campaign share link.
- 6
Save
The code is now available in Analyse for attribution and reporting.
What happens at checkout
When Tebex sends a purchase that includes this creator code:
- The purchase is tagged with the code in Analyse
- Revenue is added to that creator's total
- The creator's cut is calculated for you
Per-creator dashboard
Each code gets its own page showing:
- Stat cards: revenue, purchases, customers, average order
- Revenue and purchases charts over time
- Commission earned and discount given
- Linked Campaigns
- Recent purchases (customer + amount + date)
This is the page to show a creator (or pull into your own finance spreadsheet) when working out what a code has actually earned.
Paying creators
Analyse does not send money on your behalf. If you've agreed a revenue share with a creator, calculate their cut from the code's total revenue (multiply by the percentage you agreed) and pay them however you normally would: PayPal, bank, whatever.
Coming soon
Automated payout tracking (per-period "owed" / "paid" state and public share links for creators) is on our roadmap. Let us know in Discord if you'd like it prioritized.
Tips
- Use the creator's handle as the code. PEWDS is better than SUMMER20, because it signals who they are to the player.
- Always give the creator both a Campaign and a Code. You'll get the richest story when you can compare the two.
- Expire old codes. If you cycle deals, expire the code at the end of the period so the creator can't keep driving comped revenue.
