¿Qué es Keyword ranking?

The position your page holds in search results for a specific query, tracked over time to measure SEO progress.

Keyword ranking is the position your page occupies in organic search results for a specific query: ranking 4 for "invoice software" means yours is the fourth organic listing. Tracked over time across a set of target keywords, rankings are the standard progress measure for SEO work.

Rankings are less stable than they look. Results vary by searcher location, device, and history, so your own logged-in check is not what a typical searcher sees; rank trackers and Search Console's average position are more honest. Rankings also fluctuate daily, which is why trends over weeks beat snapshots. And position is not traffic: a #3 ranking on a SERP stacked with ads and an AI answer can yield fewer clicks than a #5 on a clean one, so pair rankings with impressions and clicks. Chasing one trophy keyword is usually worse strategy than ranking decently for many specific long-tail queries, which collectively carry most search volume.

What moves rankings, roughly: content that satisfies the query, backlinks, technical health including Core Web Vitals, and time.
